  • BSc1b – April & May

I forgot to upload a dev journal page for April so I am doing them both now.

Across April and May, we had 2 but technically 3 projects. First we had a 2000 word essay on a provided topic of our choosing, and I chose to explore and research into Data Bias.

The more engaging of the 2 projects for me was the Creative tech project, where we finally moved into practical, hands on work with Arduino’s. This was split into 2 projects, a single one using a buzzer, LED’s and other components. And a group project where we essentially had fun figuring out how to wire and control a Braccio robot arm.

  • BSc1b – March

March gave us 2 projects to work on, the machine learning project, which was mostly guided, and the industry folder.

The industry folder helped open my eyes to the multitude of job opportunities around my local area, which surprised me as electronics and robotics are not high job opportunities I would have expected to see much of so local to me.

  • BSc1b – Februaury

Towards the end of January and the majority of February, we moved to a unity based project where we were to develop a mobile app using AR.

In this I learned the complexities of modelling with blender, as well as the importance of asset organisation when dealing with large amounts of files.

  • BSc1b – January

This month was the second half of our algorithmic art project, in which we had to visualize a mathematical concept.

For this, I chose to attempt to create a solar system creator, where the user could create their own solar system.

I fell short on the project because I lost focus of the scope and attempted to develop too far beyond my own skill and timescale, attempting to use classes and advanced functions I was not fully aware of.

  • BSc1b – December

Our December project was focusing on P5.JS and our brief was to design something using grid.

For this project, I decided to create an interactive grid that allowed you to draw with squares and circles.

One of the biggest problems I came across was not being able to turn a circle into a square. This is because I was attempting to access two arrays but failing that and only accessing one. I soon came to a resolution of one array but this taught me that it is ok to go back a few steps to progress forward
